GH5/GX80/GX85 has no record time limit?

Before you freak out, try a different card. I've been shooting 4k video at 30fps in a GX85 with no problems. I get one continuous file, no matter how long the camera is running.

SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO UHS-I SDXC Memory Card (V30)
  • UHS-I/V30/U3/Class 10
Transcend 128GB UHS-1 SDXC Memory Card (Speed Class 3)
4K will make one continuous file in a SDXC card (it will break it up in a SDHC card), but if you record 1080p MP4 it breaks it up into 4GB files regardless of what card is used. This is mentioned in the advanced manual.

I forgot to check that given the mention of the 128GB card (which for sure is a SDXC).

Anyways, the tip about spanning is still going to be useful for 1080p files shot in MP4 or if a SDHC card is used for 4K.

In EU most of video making cameras have 29:59 limit, because otherwise they are "videorecorders" :-( with an additional fee up to 14%

US-cameras (and Australian PAL cameras) most have no limitation - except of overheating problems (Sony ...)
Actually, no. Most camera manufacturers impose the 29'59" limit on US models. There's absolutely no reason they should, but they do. Panasonic is the exception, on some models.

GH4 definately has 30 minut video limit. At least the EU version that this thread is about.

IIRC, there is a firmware update you pay for that gives you V-log and unlimited record time:
Given that this thread is 3-4 years old, it probably doesn't matter.
Oh wow I didn't know that.

From the webpage it is however not very clear if the paid upgrade also removes the recording limit on the european GH4.. does anyone tried this? This would be great. I am otherwise still happy with my GH4. If I could just buy the paid fw upgrade to remove the limit, I dont need to buy new expensice cameras just becase GH4 is few years old.. cosumerism meh.
