GH2 not another BUG please - HELP

Just bought my first manual aperture lens[ B] and I cant shoot in P[ B] or S mode[ B]!?!?!?

Changed the setting: [Shoot w/o lens]=ON

and

In P[ B] mode. LV[ B] is not consistent with the picture taken.

In A[ B] mode. Did not expect it to work but it is still possible to adjust the EV bar. Problem is, LV still does not match the final photo.

In S[ B] mode. LV[ B] does not work at all[ B]!!! Doesn't matter what Speed you set it for, it does not affect the LV. And EV is stuck at zero all the time. WHY?!?

My work is done based on the exposure compensation [EV] control.
How do you do it?
Cannot be calculation everything in M mode all the time!? :confused:

Can I make some constructive suggestions?
  • your post appears to be trying to emphasise some text using a sort of pseudo-HTML. If you read the instructions for posting you will see that bold text is created here by enclosing the text in asterisks .
  • although the GH2 is manufactured by Panasonic, you are more likely to get a helpful reply on the micro four thirds forum.
  • try reading page 93 of the GH2 manual.

Though cant really understand this sentence on page 93:

"When you use a lens with an aperture ring, the setting for the rear dial becomes effective if you rotate the aperture ring to the [A] position and the aperture ring setting takes priority if you in Aperture-Priority AE Mode."

So, to use aperture priority I have to ???? I am not following! :) Please give me a hint here!

I found the GF2 to be so Buggy that I returned it after a few weeks:

1:) In manual mode, the camera's software overrides the user's exposure choices, rendering faint light star trail photography impossible. This is a camera software error.

3:) Using auto bracket, When rapidly taking a series of pictures In very bright conditions, such as low sunlight reflecting off water, the automatic exposure can fail, giving very washed out and unusable pictures.

In the operating instructions, under " Troubleshooting" this condition is described on P. 206 as " Lens or image sensor gets dirty". This is not true, as it could be, - and probably is - a Software error.

The GF2 could be a nice camera but you can't trust it to take properly exposed pictures. I don't know who tested these cameras prior to manufacturing / Shipping. Possibly no one.

That refers to Panasonic 4/3 lenses (not μ4/3) that have an aperture ring. I believe only 3 such lenses were ever made. To use with the GH2 you need a 4/3 to μ4/3 adapter.

It sounds like you are trying to use a legacy, manual lens with your GH2. You should use the "A" setting on your mode dial - "Aperture Priority" means you choose the aperture, the camera chooses a shutter speed.

Oh, I totally agree, why cant we get pro on M43?

Would they rather take a camera back instead of fixing these little things onthe next firmware?
 
To Zuzullo:

FIRST - you complain about being unable to edit more than once. Do you know that you can scroll down your browser window to see the Message Preview as you type? If you proofread your typing in that window before clicking the "Post" button, you will greatly reduce your need to re-edit your posts.

SECOND - have you read the GH2's manual about how Histogram works? It is on p. 65 of my manual.

"When the recorded picture and the histogram do not match each other ... the histogram is displayed in orange." It then explains some situations in which that will occur.

As to your questions below, changing the S value should NOT change the EV, and you will only see the effects in Live View if you use Manual mode and turn on Constant Preview in the menu (p. 94 of my manual).

I recommend that you spend more time reading the manual. It is a difficult manual, so it needs to be read at least 2 or 3 times.

Thanks for the scroll down tip. :) Now it makes more sense!

and

You right. My mistake interpreting the "S-mode" here. But still researching on this "A-mode".
I am gonna chew the manual some more :)
