First, apologies if this has been discussed before, but I searched and couldn't find an answer. I'm on location today and as I always use manual focus shift lenses with my GFX 50 R I'm stuck on how to display the focus points while shooting with the 32 to 64 zoom. In the AF/MF menu I have the AF mode set to single point, rapid AF off, low light priority off and auto focus point display on. I have the switch on the back of the camera set to S. I was expecting a touch on the shutter release button to display the point at which the camera focuses. This does not happen. How can I set this camera to show me the focus point it has chosen prior to taking the picture?

Thanks!!!

FWiW, the last of these only affects the multi-point AF modes. In single point AF you should see the one square that it will use.

If you’re in the single point mode, the camera doesn’t choose, you do. But you should still see the box. Depending on your “Disp” mode it will either be displayed all the time, or once the AF has locked (or given up trying to). Out of interest, which display mode are you in? Maybe worth switching to the other one?

Thanks for your response. I've the different display modes with no success. Also, every other setting, I can see or think of. The only way to get what I'm expecting to happen is to go to the auto focus manual focus menu then focus area. At this point, I see the focus point the camera is going to set focus too. I can move it around with the joystick. However, as soon as I take a picture, this disappears and I have to go through the same procedure of going to the AFMF menu, focus area, etc. each time I want to take a picture. Maybe I have to put this onto a custom function button? How do I make the focus point appear every time I touch the shutter release button or conversely just to be there all the time? Because each time I take a picture after activating it in the menus, it disappears.

Sound weird. If I understand your description, (a) it doesn’t sound like anything I’ve seen and (b) it doesn’t sound like designed behaviour. Which firmware version are you on? (FWIW, I’m on 2.41)

Thanks again, Jeff for your suggestions. I updated the firmware on both the camera and the lens, although I don't think either of these solved my problem. It turns out that I had the focus frame turned off in the screen set up, display custom settings, menu!
  1. Press MENU/OK and select "Gear Symbol" SCREEN SET-UP > DISP. CUSTOM SETTING in the (SET UP) tab.
Everything works as expected now!

I’d forgotten about that option!

Seems so obvious now, doesn’t it 😂
