I just got a new G9 ll and took a few raw photos. Adobe Camera Raw would not open the .RW2 files. The only way was to convert to .dng and then they would open.

Do users of other model Panasonic cameras have the same issue with .RW2 files?

You may well have to go to your own "region" to progress the enquiry, but I can't yet see the G9 II listed under Panasonic?

Sorry - yes I can, but as "LUMIX DCG9M2" - the last entry but one in the Panasonic section!!

They say it needs [for example] Classic 13.0 - but latest was 13.5... do you perhaps need to run the various updates?

I have a G9 II and Lightroom Classic (which uses Adobe Camera Raw) opens them just fine. How old is your Adobe Camera Raw?

My camera raw is the current version. The files do open in LRC. I only use Photoshop which is current for my Mac. I can do the DNG conversion but it just an extra step in my workflow.

Thanks

I just grabbed a RAW from the G9ii galleries and opened it with ACR 16.4(PS), no issues.

16.5 is the latest afaik.

I'm on windows, which shouldnt make a difference v0v.

I still use PS CS6 on Windows 10 for the rare occasions I want to post-process my Raw files which must be converted separately with the latest Adobe DNG Converter program.

If your (subscribed, cloud-based) PS is “current” then something is wrong. You should not need an extra manual conversion step.

I pay Adobe monthly and my current PS is 25.11 for Apple m2 and the raw converter is 16.5.

thanks for all the feedback

Just updated to 16.5 it too opens the G9ii RAW files.

I see your last post now, maybe it is a mac issue.

UPDATE:

It seems that the method i was using to open the files was incorrect. I would select the file and select "open with". PS was not on the list of programs and I could not add it. So I found out that if i open PS first and then select the file i want it opens in camera raw. Problem solved.

Glad you've resolved that!

Your "incorrect" route jogged this 70 year old back to when "open with Camera Raw" was a handy (though poorly-documented) trick in Photoshop Elements, as a means of applying some of its cleverer tools to JPG files... ones that were otherwise hard or perhaps impossible to get that simpler program to offer!

Every day a school day, even if revisiting old lessons?
