G6: Unable to set Super Macro mode

I can toggle the Macro mode (Tullip icon) on by pressing the macro button.

The manual says that holding down the button a few seconds sets the Super Macro mode (Tullip bulb surrounding S). I have tried to do so but to no avail.

Is my camera broken or am I doing something wrong?

did you try to hold it down until the "new" tulip icon appears ? sometimes it takes 5 seconds (as per manual?) and 5 seconds is quite long

Yes, held the button for a long time and nothing happens.

Note I have a lens adapter installed with a UV filter, just wondering if the adapter makes a difference.

Try holding the macro button down for 5 seconds with the lens at either the extreme wide end or the extreme tele-end. As I remember, it only works in Super at the lens extremes

What mode are you in?? Does not work in auto.

Make sure you are not in auto mode. Rotate th dial to "P" and then hold down the macro button. It should turn on then. Hope this helps.

Supermacro also won't work in any of the Image Zone settings (Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Stitch Assist or Movie).

It will work on the settings on the other half of the dial.

??? on my G6 it works in any "lens position" ..

Thanks, gang. Problem solved. Wish the darn manual would have explained the limitation to the feature.
