just got a new computer...with Windows XP Pro...no problems until i tried to install the Canon G3 software and then download some photos....

Everything "appears" to go Ok, then I get a message that says "there is a problem with the USB device" and i can't seem to fix it!

And, I did do a search on this forum and found several people saying make sure the communication mode is set to normal, and it is....

I can put the CF card in an external reader and get the images Ok, but I have kind of been spoiled by downloading direct from the camera...

Yes, i have removed and re-installed the software already....no help.

Surely some of you have been through this problem before and have some other suggestions? (i hope!)
thanks....in advance...

fixed it...thanks for your help and concern....i just ended up doing an un-install.....(2nd time) and then a re-install.....and magic happened!
Go to the menu with the (wrench and hammer) and make sure the
communication porperty is set to notmal NOT PTP. Let me know if
this helped.

rburbank,

I'm not sure if you know this or not,But you do not even need the software that comes with the G3 if you have windows xp.Just hook it up to the usb and poof the computer detects the camera. You just select the way you want to upload the pics and presto your done.I find it to be a lot less hassle.
