Morning all,

I've had my G2 since last September 15 ( 2001) ,

I was almost up to my 10,000 image with it, - the counter went up to 8999, and then the next image on the CF card was back at 0000 !

( IMG_0000.JPG )

I checked the in the settings on the LCD panel, just to make sure

I hadn't reset the " reset counter" option, and nope, it's still set in the same way to "off", or not to do this.

Does anyone know what may have happened ?

Also is there away to get the counter back to where i ended off ?

Maybe this is a bug, don't know.

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

I hope with all the talk about the G3, our messages don't get pushed way down the line and far out of sight :-(

HOpe somebody out there has an answer for me. Sorry for the post.

Hehe, yeah, G3 is taking over... :)

Anyway, as far as I know the counter 'runs out' at some point, maybe it does that afer 8999 images? Just a guess, though. Only 2800-2900 shots taken with my S30 :p

My take is it's a bug and there's nothing you can do.

Mine went back to zero at an odd point over 4250 or something. The problem is I was getting duplicate names of my pictures...
Someone at Canon told me there was nothing to do.
Did you use a card from a different camera? That was my case.

oh shoot !

YOu are correct ! - I DID use a CF card from another camera !
I have an old Epson PhotoPC 700, and that's the one I used,

my gosh, don't tell me it does that .... that's just dumb.

I'll have to now use Acdsee, and use the batch file renaming filter on them I guess, - a pain but at least it works, - don't know of any other solution.

thanks !

Logopro.

I notice that RickH has put you on to my old post about resetting the counter, yes it does work, using it all the time to reset my G1 And Pro90, I keep forgetting and put the wrong cards in the wrong camera,I have the G1 set 0 to 5000 and the pro90 5000 to 9999 .

I am getting close to 5000 with the G1, dont know what to do for the best, any suggestions? I really dont want to have to use a renamer unless I have to,Pity Canon cant do a firmware mod to give us another digit.

Bye the way,no problem using the same cards in different cameras as long as you dont leave any shots on the card.Good luck.
