Full Specs released

Have you really compared the current EVFs and the smaller Oly OVFs? Using the LCD screen may be "spray and pray" but the EVFs are fairly good. Not great, but fairly good.

I've never had a problem with what I see in an EVF.. The problem lies with when I see it...

The delay between whats happening in front of you and when you see it in the vf is too long and too variable to anticipate the proper time to fire the shutter and capture the exact instant you wish to capture.

for the 4/3 lenses, what is the point?

More megapixels?

Just get a GX-1 and be done with it.
Built-in EVF, support for wireless TTL flash, and IBIS, to name a few.
So, then get an E-p3 and a VF-2 and be done with it.
Don't you mean "get an E-P3, VF-2 and a ziploc bag and be done with it"?
You're forgetting the special magic adapter that lets you plug in the VF-2 and the FL-50 at the same time.

Is a drastic reduction in time delay between action and image in the EVF. This is needed, for sure.

The real need is to keep the delay not only short but CONSTANT.. Right now, with every good EVF I have seen, the delay/frame rate changes when the light level goes up and down.

Exactly. So apart from the weather sealing, (probably) improved IBIS, (probably) better sensor, ability to use a flash and EVF simultaneously, and various other likely improvements, the new body has nothing over an E-P3 + VF-2 combo.

Oh it matters.... and I have had canon Rebels that will meter 30sec @ ISO 100!

Timelapse - day to night... but if the meter locks up at 4sec you end up with black all night! if the meter goes to 30sec you get a nicely exposed image!

Yes, which is why I generally would shoot action with the Pen using the LCD to frame and watching the action by eye.

It's also why I keep the E-3 for action, and X100 for the hybrid OVF.

Yes, perhaps to accommodate the IS movement.
A part of the sensor is always masked off to provide the baseline reading.

more than 30min is good for filming a performance (theater, play etc). where you want it all and then edit later - a cut at 29min just in a good bit would be very problematic!

Or for timlapse/capturing an event with unknown start time... e.g. a sealed tin of beans on an electric hob :)

And if I was, I'd probably want the hacked GH2, but I never understood the need for > 30mins continuous video. Typically, don't you cut every few seconds?

Cheers

Brian
For cinematography, yes. But event videography--where you record an entire performance, or an interview, or a speech, etc. may necessitate much longer recording times.

You can always cut between scene changes, but not all events are structured that way.

Cus bar the IBIS there is nothing much appealing about the specks on the oly - basicly a G3 with water proof and IBIS...
Look at my avatar, when you're shooting in the snow and rain... Oly weathersealing rocks.
I will wait to see what the AF 3D tracking works like - could be a save for Oly - but I don't have high hopes!
Try dropping your camera in a river... you'll appreciate weathersealing. I did, with the E-3 + ZD 11-22mm - later the same day took this shot :

Looking forward to getting back to this capability with the OM-D :)

Cheers

Many times I found myself shooting wide open under bright conditions and the speed maxed out ;-(
Really? Many times? Not sure how??
I spent quite a bit of time trying to shot at f1.4 last summer. Even in Scottish sunshine, I was constantly about a stop short. 1/8000 is just one stop better but it would make all the difference and it's the minimum I'd be looking at in the GH3. A built-in ND filter might be nice too. looking forward to reports on the OM-D but I'd be surprised if it's any better than the GH2 in any aspect of IQ. The cam is certainly a big step forward for Oly but I fear it won't have that much to offer RAW shooting Panny fans unless weather sealing is important or the IBIS turns out to be much more effective than expected (no way on earth will it do 5 stops..)

The camera is actually shorter than GH2! E-M5: 4.8 inch (W) x 3.5 inch (H) x 1.7 inch (D), GH2: 4.88" x 3.53" x 2.98"

I think it's loverly!
