I don't know how many of you have been following the efforts of bobn2 and others to bring up an alternative site.

In particular, to me, it's essential to have the real experts from Photographic Science and Technology around, to keep everyone - including me - honest.
This works both ways. Eric Fossum said that it helped him to see questions from folk with little understanding of sensor design. In the same way that a university professor might find undergraduates' questions thought-provoking.
As far as video goes, I propose a forum called "Moving Pictures".
If that seems strange, my rationale is that quite a few of the problems that folk have asked about on "Digital Video Talk" are not problems specific to video or digital video, and have occurred, and been solved, many decades ago, on rotating shutter film cameras, and the solutions are essentially the same for modern column-parallel active-pixel CMOS sensor cameras.
Wishing all y'all good light,
John.

To me, it's important to try to keep the community together. The size and depth of the community matters a lot. It's important to have the lighting experts around, and stills folk who may have a lot of expertise with cameras used for video.bobn2 said:Three proposals have merged efforts.
The new site will be DPRevived.com, not as originally advertised PhotoForums.com.
There is an interim site https://cameradiscussion.createmybb4.com/index.php hosted by Alansh. This can be used for ongoing discussions. Registrations and posts will be migrated to the long-term site.
ComeHither has created a registration page for the new site. This will be available on DPRevived.com when the name servers sort themselves out. During that the email [email protected] won't be reachable, so pleas have patience.
I'll post again when it's back.
Also, we've been in toch with Soencer and Nasim at Photography Life. They are also proposing a solution, hopefully that will be included under a single banner.
