Camera: a6400

Lens:samyang 24mm f2.8

Autofocus: Single

Zone: spot

I focus in the object by halfpressing the shutter button, the square turns green, recompose in an object that is obviously not focused on, fully press the shutter to take the picture and the square turns grey and the green again.

All this takes time and not instant making me feel a looong lag bettween pressing the shutter and taking the photo.

Is there other setting i am not seeing?

I use AF-C tracking for such shooting on A6400.

I don't see this behavior at all with my Sony 18-135, even with AF-S priority set to AF - half-press to focus, recompose, full press and the photo is taken (still focused on the original target). (you're not releasing the button between initial focus & full press?)

Try a different lens - this definitely isn't what mine is doing.

I just checked and can get occasional refocusing if pre-AF is on, so make sure it isn't.
