Flash with 828?

Sony officially recommends F32X, but I'd wait for something with a faster recycling time.

How do the specs compare between the F32X and the Sunpak 383? Is there any special functionality that you get with the F32X becasue it's from Sony? I.e. did they add any useful features that you don't get with the generic brand and also do either have accessories that would set them apart?

Can anybody recommend a good flash to work with the 828? (when I
get one)

More power than the 383 and it talks better to the camera. I use it and it works very well with my V1

I would say yes. I know on my 717 when I use a Vivitar Flash the red eye function does not work. I think when using an external Sony Flash you will have red eye function because the flash connects to the accessory port. Is that right any one? Wouldn't this also apply to the 828? As long as the flash is connected to the accessory port, regardless of flash manufacture, you should have all the special flash features the 828 has to offer. Is that also correct?

If I wasn't my worst critic, I would think all my pictures were great.

The 32x does talk better with the camera but it is not higher powered. According to Sony site it is effective out to 40 feet while the 383 lists 60 feet and a guide number of 120. Sony lists no guide number on their site. Additionally the 383 costs about half of the Sony model and swivels as well as bounce which allows you to use bounce in portrait mode. Reading other threads in STF one can find the cheaper 383 is very effective and easy to use.
