I'm welcoming myself aboard! I just purchased the D70s, and now I already have one question. How do I tell which version of Firmware I have? I have read the manual throughout, but it does not tell me which version came with the camera. Or am I really missing the right page?

Welcome!

It's not in the manual. It's in the camera.

Press the Menu button, go to the "Set Up" menu (the one with the wrench. Scroll aroound until you locate "Firmware Ver." . Use the 4-way "joystick" to scroll to your firmware version...

You should have, A: 1.0
B: 1.0

If this information was in the manual, how would the printed information get corrected if you upgrade the firmware?

A = 2.0
B = 2.0

These are the current versions.
Yes you can update from any version to this one.

They are available from the Nikon support site for your country. Check it out , it should also have full instructions on how to do the upgrade.

You're referring to the D70's current firmware. The D70s is still at v1.0 for both A and B firmware.

I hear ya... every time I see "D70s" I see D70 in plural form. ;)

I have the feeling that this is going to be a common mistake in the coming weeks. :)
