I have an RX100-2 with the leather Sony case. I have seen a couple of threads here about adapters to use a polarizer - lensmate and magfilter.

Can anyone tell me if my leather case will still close around the camera once one of these adapters are stuck on the end of the lens? I wouldn't mind too much having to take the filter off, though it would be nice to be able to keep the lens cap on.

Thx - GT

It only adds a slim little ring magnet to the lens barrel and should fit your case just fine. The adapter itself also has a magnet and these are attracted to each other when the filter is in use. I have several adapter that I fit different filters to. Then I can switch from a 10 stop to a grad filter to an IR filter in seconds.

I hope this helps.

Aloha,

Val

As noted, the MagFilter adapter mount is a very thin metal ring, will definitely fit any snug case.

The smallest/thinnest CPL filter is MagFilter's own CPL. It attatches directly to the metal ring. Other filters will need to be threaded onto the separate magnetic plate, and that sandwich attaches magnetically to the metal ring.

here's the link

Thx for the replies.

I was initially leaning towards the Lensmate version as it uses 52mm filters - which I use on my older Nikkors. Is the stick on base for that much different in size to the Magfilter one?

Obviously it won't fit with the filter attached - just hoping the base doesn't create any issues

magfilter makes 52mm adapter plates, 58mm adapter plates, look a little more at their site

OK - thx

Hello Elliot

I have just purchased a Sony RX100 M6 a couple of days ago.

I already have an Olympus Stylus 1 and I have attached double MagFilter attachment rings to that camera and I am using the the MagFilter CPL directly on the Stylus 1 perfectly.

I have one unused attachment ring on hand that I want to place on the Sony RX100 M6 and use the MagFilter CPL on that camera as well.

My recollection is that you also own(d) both of these cameras.

My question is: "Is the attachment ring that sticks on to the front of the lens housing of the Sony RX100 M6 the same size as the one that attaches to the Stylus 1?"

Regards,

Barry

yes it is. that size ring fits all rx100's and the Stylus 1. same filters move from camera to camera.

Don't forget, you can unscrew the auto lens cap on the stylus 1 so you can turn it off with MagFilter attached. Because it is only magnetically held, even though the magnet is strong, caution must be used doing that, inn/out of a case I remove my filter.
