Hi all,

Been a member of the forum for a while now, joined when I bought the 400d last year but not really posted any questions or replies.

I recently upgraded to the 40d and debated if I should go with the Nikon d300 but with the great cash back offer Canon had, it was too good to be true. Must say the Camera is a better size and weight than the 400d, especially for the larger lens, feels a lot more professional.

I have only just had a chance to get out and about and noticed that there is a dark patch on the top LCD panel, just on the left hand side- in the AWB section.

Before I take it back to the shop I just wanted to check with you guys if this is a fault or not. You only notice it in daylight, and it is quite noticeable.

Has anybody else experienced this...

I think that's fairly common, from an earlier topic's discussion - it sorta looks like a polarized effect on the left side.

I see it, and figure it's something to do with a tight fitting cover over the LCD. Maybe the LCD has pressure on it from beneath, or the LCD cover?

Common. Both 40D bodies I own have that same behavior in the top LCD. It's a minor cosmetic issue. I notice it in my 5D sometimes, but not as often.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

(sorry about the image quality, I grabbed the cheapo p&s as I didn't feel like dragging out the 5D)

A friend once asked me 'How do I get better at photography?'. My reply was simple - 'Go out and take pictures'.

Thanks h04x for your reply and also taking the time to take the pictures...

Glad I asked you guy's before taking it back to the shop, could have been quite embarrassing.

Thanks again...
