I just got the F70EXR and I'm sometimes seeing gray lines in my photograph. Here's a sample blown up:

I think it's happening when I'm using continuous mode. I'm using a Sandisk 4GB Micro SDHC card in an adapter. Is this a problem with the camera or is it the card?

Hello Sung J,

The only assistance I can give is on the SD card. Try another SD card in the camera. If you don't have another card, then put your card into your computer using a card reader, copy pics to it and then view the pics on screen.
Seems like a camera issue to me.
Good luck with the problem

....as I learnt last year with a new camera - Olympus E-P1, actually, although it can affect any - these are the manifestation of dead pixels, which appear as a line through the image.

Only solution is to exchange the camera (if it's a very recent acquisition), or to send it in for repair.

Hope this is a help to you

All the best,
Nick

Thanks, guys, for your comments. I just got an 8GB SDHC card, and it hasn't happened again, but then again, even with my old card, the problem was inconsistent -- it happened once every 100 shots or so. So if it is a dead pixel issue, why isn't it failing every time?

That line problem was not caused by a dead pixel. The line itself probably represents at least tens of thousands of pixels. If it occupies 1% of the image area, that amounts to about 100,000 bad pixels. It's possible that the F70EXR is intermittently defective, but it's much more likely to be a problem caused by the micro SDHC card/SDHC adapter combo. My guess is that as long as you use your new 8GB SDHC card, the problem won't return, but if it does, you should probably contact Fuji's tech. support, especially if the F70EXR is still under warranty.

Thanks, Billx08. I only got the camera a few days ago, so I'll take a whole bunch of shots to see if it returns.

I must say, I like this camera very much. I almost went with the DMC-ZS3, but the low light ability of this P&S was what sold me. The ISO is very high for these indoor shots, but I guess that's just the way it is. Even so, the pictures don't look too bad.

Hiya Sung J. Woo,

Personally, and i am out of line with the othe replies, i think it is a Image Transfer problem. Something in you setup is not right. Either the mem card is not quite compatible, or the connection to the adaptor is not quite right or the adaptor to the card reader, be it a external or a internal pc one, is not quite right.

Especially as you mention that the problem is intermitent.

Try cleaning the terminals of the MicroSDHC card, and the terminals of the Adaptor with a pencil rubber. Make sure you blow away any residue from the rubber, or the will find their way into the camera.

That might just fix the problem.

Else as another poster replied, it looks like a fault in the camera.

Greets.
Fotonut.
