What is the US price for the F200? The only place I can find it is at COSTCO and it is $399. I've only seen price in UK pounds. I want to buy it, but just want to know if the price seems right. Is the camera made out of plastic?

Thanks

Dunno about the US price, but European pricing is around 600 USD.
It is partly made out of plastic. But very solid.
Easy to use, yet if desired one has FULL manual control over all functions.

I have just got the f200 as a second camera to the 7i. The body is metal and made out of attractive brushed chrome with a very solid feel. Purchase was made in the UK from my local dealer with a 128MB SD for £350.In the short time I have had the camera it's performed well and I am very satisfied.

I agree with the other comments. $399 sounds around right for US. I got mine iin UK mail order: £300 for camera; plus extra £50 for 128MB card, Minolta leather case, charger and 4 1800 rechargable batteries.

Remember, camera as standard (in UK at any rate) only includes a standard battery; no rechargables and no charger.

Camera seems very sturdy (apart from flimsy USB connector cover, but this does not seem to be a problem) For samples see

(plus several other sites posted earlier by various oeople on this forum)

I don't think it's made of metal at all. I've got mine standard package for 500 Euros from an online dealer in france. I'm veryn pleased with the camera till been getting great pictures of my 15 months old daughter. But then i'm a mere point and shooter. But i think you'll love it.

According to the website the F200 is made of aluminum. My F300 like the F100 definitely is, so I don't know why they would suddenly start using plastic on the F200. Apart from the battery and SD flaps I'd say it is as well built as the Canon Elph's in my opinion. Even has a proper metal tripod socket.

And just one more plastic around the lens when stretched out, but as everyone has pointed out the overall feeling is that it's very well built, well it is and you don't feel the plastic in the plastic parts so to speek :)

Ambrose,

Yes you are quite correct! I had forgotton about the lens barrel itself, but then it is so well made it hardly feels like it has any plastic as you say.

Well I've ticked my camera with my nail and it surely sounds like plastic. But then I don't know what aluminum sounds like. I guess I could go and tick my car alloys but I'll take your word for it. Anyway it surely feels very well built.

i've never held the f100 but saw one on shop screen and didn't like the looks of it and I just love the f200.
In my very modest opinion this is a really nice camera.
More this is my first experience with digital and been loving it.

One last thing people say these cameras are a big power consumers. I've got two pairs of duracells 1800 mah which I've been using even to download pictures to the computer and I think they last a lot between recharges. And as I'm fascinated with my toy I'm always reviewing pictures enlarging them and the LCD is almost always on.
