F11 portrait

Not usualluy a fan of the square crop, but it works here. Superb detail and sharpness. Really well done IMO.

Hi!

How did you get the ppl in the backround so blurry? Are they on some kind of giant photograph or real?

Thanks,
stephan.

You might have this feeling because I didn't apply the same type of post processing to the background, it has less contrast than the main subject to make it less distracting, my lens was also wide open at 2.8 and I used a long focal and the people in the background were relatively far away. I thought that may be I used the blur tool in ps but I checked the original picture and this one is as blurry as the B& w one.

I dont mean to correct you, however, I say this because you might not be aware of the minimum F stops at the different focal lengths on the F10/11.

I think you meant to say your lens was wide open for the focal length, your shot was taken at, which at 24mm is F5 and that is what your shot was taken at, not F2.8. That is the minimum f stop for the F11 when zoomed in all the way as you did, even if you had F2.8 dialed in on aperture priority, it will still shoot at F5. This does help decrease DOF a bit and was absolutley the right way to shoot this shot, IMO.

I reccomend folks go take a look at your gallery, there are some awesome photos in there.
