Exporting images from Lightroom for upload to DPReview

For various reasons, I don't post images very often. One of the reasons is that most photography forums seem to display slightly soft images, which I'm assuming to be compression of images after upload? Another reason is that I consider my images to be of no interest to others, although I enjoy viewing other members work, mine just aren't very artistic!

Anyway, I was wondering how other members export images from Lightroom for best quality viewing on DP Review?

You can export full resolution JPEGs and post them on DPReview, which is unusual because most sites limit the size.

Whether you want to post your work as full resolution JPEGs is a separate issue.

I find that 2,000 pixels on the long edge allows for satisfactory web viewing.

I have been using Photoshop CS6 for years. My source for export is .PSD, .TIF or .JPG.

With the source image loaded, I invoke “Image > Image Size…” menu to get the dialog box for downsampling the image. I typically enter 2000 pixels for the long edge.

Then I invoke “File > Save As…” menu to export a .JPG file, selecting 8 or 9 (maximum 12) for compression quality level.

The procedure should be similar in Lightroom.

Thank you Ashley. I'm familiar with the image size dialogue box and how to export/save as in general but my question was relating to obtaining the sharpest output for forum display. I've seen some photographers websites and the images are stunningly sharp, whereas photography forums always seem to look slightly soft, probably due to bandwidth concerns.

I'm going to upload a few images and see how they look. Thanks again.

I use Mac OS Sequoia, how can I tell if scaling is turned on? I switch between Chrome and Safari browsers, I assume there’s something in preferences relating to scaling?
