Same for the 30D. 8 fps is better...like on the 1D MKII. Not that you need 5 or 8 frames to capture a moving chipmunk. But having 5 or 8 fps means the second or third shot (where you'll catch the chipmunk in the frame.....depends on how tight you frame the shot...the wider you frame the shot (leaving more room for the chipmunk to move into) the more chances of catching it in one of the earlier frames)) fires much more quickly in succession.5 FPS is one reason I purchased 20D.
Thanks Gerry. Its interesting that there is no discussion on the rule of thirds and
taking time for composition and the difference between a photograph
and a snapshot.
Some people do not realize that on action shots , BIF or sports you
have limited time to get the shot. The cropping (rule of thirds) and
5 layers of Processing come later.
Anyway nice shot.

Really? Are you sure? That poor guy is going to get a bad case of poison ivy!!![]()
Thanks Bob. Now, a magic trick would lose some of its appeal if the magician gave away how its done, wouldn't it?Were you tracking this gal/fellow, or were you pre-positioned on a
route frquently traveled?
Either way, it's uniquely cool.![]()

You'll have to ignore the gallery's collection of bad compositions,
improper exposures, and amateurish post processing.

The 5fps means the time between shots is quicker. With the chipmunk you better catch it in the first 2 frames (maybe 3 if you go wider but the subject is smaller in the frame). Sometimes when the battery is weak some frames will be dark as the flash is recharging.I use a 580EX and I know many of his functionalities but I cannot see
how you were able to do that...
Can you explain?

Thanks John. Have not heard of Rocky the squirrel. There's a Rock Bullwinkle.....but he's a moose... the squirrel because that chipmunk looks like it's flying in that
photo. Nice capture.
Thanks Rap. It's easier than you think ;pretty nice capture.... makes me want to shoot something like that
myself

There are always easier ways to capture a chipmunk in action. One of them is the way I did it. If I could ever find one in an open area with lots of space I'd like to try a few other type shots I have in mond.Heh. I had to ask, because I have a hard time tracking, and. . .
how you obtained such a shot is exactly how I would have tried to do
the same.
Yes, sorry to break it you....I am indeed a mere mortalI wanted to confirm whether you had super-powers in the hand-held
tracking dept. (A bit relieved to hear you're just a mere mortal.)
