I had this issue with the Nik 7 collection and offer it here in case someone else runs into something similar

MacBook Pro. M2Pro running Sonoma 14.5.

I installed the Nik 7 collection and tried sending an image from LRC to Color Efex. The bottom 2/3s of the screen turned green and the machine restarted. Tried again, same result. Tried sending a shot from Apple Photos. Same result. Tried launching by a simple double click. Same result. Tried sending to other plug-ins, including Viveza and Silver Efex. Same result every time.

Contacted DxO and they responded smartly and we began troubleshooting. However, the weekend intervened and we stopped on Friday, to restart the efforts on Monday.

However, in the meantime I had a bit of realisation. The MacBookPro is hooked up to an external monitor, connected by HDMI. The visual signs of the crash were all on the external. So I unplugged the external monitor and launched Viveza using only the internal display on the MBP. The app launch normally. I got the splash screen, where I could enter my serial number. Then I plugged the external monitor back in and there was no issue. So I quit Viveza and launched Color Efex and it launched perfectly. I have tested this both by sending images from Lightroom Classic and Apple Photos to Viveza and Color Efex, and also by launching directly from the Finder. It all works now as it should.

So it seems that the conditions to re-create this crash are as follows:

Have an external monitor connected by HDMI
Have a copy of the suite that has not been registered with the serial number.

The workaround:

Disconnect the external until the suite has been registered with the serial number.

Hope this helps somebody else.

Hi

I had exactly the same...

I have a Mac mini and a Mac Studio Terminal

After 2 crashes I managed to enter the SN but now the App crashed 2 more times while editing ....

:-( :-(

This was also true of earlier versions of Nik.

Never ahd an issue with it before, same or similar set up.

I am currently having the same problem with Nik applications. Problem is, I have a Mac Studio and 2x external displays connected via USB-C. Nik has tried diagnosing the issue to no avail. I might try to run it on one display only to see if that works.

Interesting. I since added a second monitor and yes, the crashing returns. Removing the second monitor stops the crashing. Not ideal but it works.
