In another threat (part I, http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=20756660 ) I reported about the performance of the Eneloop-batteries in my flash.
Today I can report about their performance in my Ist-Ds.
To be short: on 18Sep2006 I put 4 fully charged Energizer 2500 mAh's in my Ds, at image number 2143. They were empty on shot 2288, on 27Sep2006. So they lasted 145 shots / 10 days. (in range with my previous experiences with them, although I never counted this before)
That same day I put 4 brand new Eneloops in it, fully charged. Today they were empty, at shot no. 3070. That's 782 shots / 45 days (if I count well).
Some more facts:
-the Energizers should be at about the peak of their performance, I have them since this summer. The Eneloops were brand new (first charge) so maybe they will improve.
-both were charged with my Maha C401FS, which should be one of the best chargers around (+ 4 independent circuits)
-there is nothing wrong with my Energizers... the performance of the 4 individual batteries is "comparable". (And I have enough of them! 12 or 16 I think)
-I always shoot RAW, check the histogram after nearly every shot, I almost never use my internal flash, but I like to browse through my pictures on the Ds, review them, delete some of them... .
-the battery indicator on my Ds showed "half empty" two days ago. I shot + - 45 shots after I first saw this. Today its satus was "empty" but I still could shoot about 10 images with that. That's an advantage of the Eneloops too (discharge at the end = less steep than with "normal" NIMH's)
