I like to use the AF targeting pad, shoot mostly with the camera in landscape orientation, this morning I found out that I can't move the AF target on the monitor holding the camera in portrait orientation...

Is this normal or would there be an other setting to block this possibility ??

Thanks, Rien

If it's working in landscape orientation it should in portrait, and vice versa. However, tapping the LCD screen can enable and disable the targeting pad, and I've noticed with mine that I sometimes knock it and therefore it's disabled. Is the targeting pad now disabled in landscape mode too? And when you try moving the focus area using the pad, do you see something at the top of the screen with an icon and the word 'off'? If so, try tapping the LCD (or is it double tapping?) when the camera is up at your eye. This should re-enable the targeting pad.

Well, I die turn it of and on again , only is possible with the camera in landscape .

when I touch the monitor, of course while looking through the EVF..., in portrait mode I do get the grid and the target in green, but not movable....., as soon as I bring the camera in landscape mode it works again, without tapping or so....; I can't remember off this was always the case.

Did anyone of you use the targeting Pad , does it work in portrait mode with you ?

If so I have to contact Olympus what to do..

Asked the same question on only-forum.com ; seems to be a bug after 1.2

It works on my (non upgrded) MKII. I guess Olympus broke it in the 1.2 Firmware "update"

The same thing happened to me. I could not for the life of me figure out why my AF target pad function would not work. I could not find it in the manual. The touchpad was turned on, etc., and nothing,. Then, I read your post and double-tapped on the screen, and the "off" changed to "on." Thank you!

You're welcome. Actually I wish Olympus provided an option to disable the double tap feature in the menus as I find mine often loses the AF targeting function by mistake. Perhaps a task for the next firmware upgrade?

Thanks very much! I had to Google to reach your post. Now that I know, it's actually a neat feature ==> Double tap to turn on/off the AF Targeting Pad.

Cheers,
