Just bought an E20 and can't wait for it to arrive. I've always used an accessory lenshade and (Lindahl) softening filters with my Bronicas and 'Blads. Can I use these with the E20 or will this somehow affect the focusing system? Thanks.

Why would you want to use filters if you're shooting digital? You can always add the effects later with Photoshop. I like to start with a clean sharp image and work from there. The beauty of digital :-)

Hi Andy,

Your filters should work with no problems. I never even bought filters for my E10s as I am happy to add any effects in Photoshop. A lot more options that way.

Richard

What is the best way to simulate a soft filter in PS?

I open the file in Photoshop. Duplicate the layer. Put a gaussian filter on the top layer. Put the layer blend mode to "lighten" ond adjust that layers opacity. I also adjust that layers brightness using curves. Sometimes I duplicated the blurred layer, put a layer mask on the top blurred layer and delete parts of the top blurred layer to see details a little better (like eyes). Kind of looks like a softar if you play around with it enough.
