Dragonflies...

Yes you're right. We had a dragonfly mating season here a week or so ago but they were tiny and rather unattractive specimens and they didn't sit still for long. It doesn't help that since my vacation started a week ago the sun has shown itself on 1 day.
I dream of getting dragonfly shots like that Frits!

Great job.
Dreaming doesnt help much :) You´d better go out and practice...
Thanks for your comment.

As requested by Chris ( Whitetea) here is one picture of the big Aeshna where the body is not parrallel to the branch... it is taken at 300mm (70-300mm APO) so its not so tack-sharp as those taken with the 180mm...

And finally a Sympetrum sanguineum from tuesday...

Wonderful images, Frits. We've just had a big hatch of dragonflies around us, but they're too busy eating mosquitos to stop and pose (and that's OK by me...)

Really beautiful, amazing!

What kind of lighting did you use? Some sort of macro flash?

.... nice shots of Dragonflies are far more acceptable than ...

.... nice shots of Flagon Dries :-) .... 'cos how then could he quench that ginormous thirst?

The photograph isolates and perpetuates a moment of time: an important and revealing moment, or an unimportant and meaningless one, depending upon the photographer's understanding of his subject and mastery of his process. -Edward Weston
