Hello All,

Not sure which forum this belongs in. Please advise, if you will, where a better one is.

In the meantime I'm looking for help with how best to do a downsize in PS.I have files that are 20x12 - 300 PSI and want to reduce them to about 4x3, keeping the PPP about 500.

When I do this in "Size" the PPP goes to over 1,000. And it can't be that high for the print process. When I do the PSI at around 300 the image blurs significantly.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard

To get 1000 DPI, I presume that you've disabled resampling.

Leave it enabled. You can set the image size you want, and also set the DPI. You don't have to let the resampling go to the same DPI as the original.

I never do that. I print from Photoshop, and choose the print size I want when printing.

I would first change the image to 500 dpi without having resize checked. Then check resizing and and resize to 4x3. The dpi should remain at 500 dpi.

When downsizing use preserve detail 2.0.

Hi Kaj,

Thank you for these instructions.

I'm using the latest PS.

Am unsure where the resizing tool is. Could it be the resampling tool?

Image size pulldown from the Image menu. I set the values similarly to what I think you want.
