Do you have enough Memory Stick?

I have two - 128's and I just ordered three more.. So, I hope 5 will keep me happy for a while with an average of 52 images per stick on fine max resolution.
Vaughn T. Winfree :)
I started the camera using the 16MB stick and it wasn't enough.
Bought a 128MB and I was able to get 50 Fine pix on it. It wasn't
enough.
Got a 2nd Memory stick for my trip to Hawaii. Two sticks using
Standard setting was enough for 1 day of shooting.
When it was on sale, I decided to add a 3rd stick, and it turned
out that it was enough for most days. But if I wanted to do Fine,
then I'll need more stick.
Got the 4th stick so I can finally use Fine mode, and it turn out
that its still not enough for one day of shooting.

How much is enough for you?

2 128mb memsticks an a 16mb one
Thats enough for me as i usualy take my laptop along on trips so
end of the day i just upload them to the laptop where i have many
gigs of space so works out nice
I might buy 3rd 128mb stick if i can once find one for around 90cdn
One day? A red bus tour trip anywhere in Europe will cost you
more. On top of what I already own + laptop too, I feel I need
more. Sometimes on a production take, there's no room to say "hey,
wait! I need to download the files first. Hold that smile, will
you? "...

Cheers!

I can't comment directly on the memory stick case that's there, but I've actually ordered from Brando a while back (a hard case for my Clie N610). The Clie case came quite promptly without any problems...

I personally don't use a memory stick case (yet). I did notice, however, that a memory stick fits inside a micro cassette case pretty nicely...

Hope that helps!

I agree, if that is true it would be more worthwhile to use fine. Otherwise I don't really see any difference between the two. If you do that test be sure to post the results. I may have to give that a try as well here.
I have been taking STD mode up until I got that 4th stick. I
cannot see any difference between STD and Fine mode.

However, when I get a chance, I want to do a Photoshop experiment
to see if Fine mode pix can be Post Process with more Saturation,
Level changes, etc before showing degradation. If it proves that
you have greater flexibility in enhancing your colors in Photoshop,
it might be worthwhile to shoot in Fine mode.
I've got 6 128MB sticks right now. So far it's been enough for
taking little day trips, etc.
Why do you use fine mode? I don't really see a difference between
that and standard even when magnified 300% when I did my little
tests. I have been sticking with standard so far. If there's a good
reason that you see to use fine over standard let me in on it:)

I promised myself never to lose a shot because I ran out of storage or batteries. (I carry 3 batteries) You can never have enough sticks. I carry 6x128MB + 1x16MB(never used) sticks. When they get full, I download into my 30GB Nixvue Vista which basically provides unlimited storage.

I want all of my sticks in one case. I've tried both the Sony MSAC-A8 (plastic) and MSAC-HGA8 (aluminum) cases. They are both very sleek and compact. The rubber inserts hold the (up to 8) sticks firmly in place. I now use only the aluminum case. It is more rugged and the latch is easier to open with one hand. However, the aluminum is very smooth and easier to slip out of your hand than the plastic case. Also, the aluminum can condense moisture after being out in very cold weather.

AFAIK, the only difference is the amount of JPEG compression. In STD mode, you may see more JPEG artifacts due to the higher compression ratio. This would be more visible with heavy sharpening or with printed enlargements. If you downsize the images, the artifacts should be harder to detect in either mode. I wouldn't expect to see any color differences.

Soon You can buy a 1 giga byte MSPro... No more need to shuffle MS anymore. At STD mode, that is some 1000+ photos!

I have taken over 700 images in 3 days when I could not get to anywhere to download them. I take more .tiffs now so it eats them memory up qucikly.
