D7i Color Space?

If you want see an example of "before and after" comparison (of a D7i image, see http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/minoltadimage7i/page11.asp
I don't have the camera here to work with, just a few files on my
hard drive. Do you mean open with the 'embedded profile', in
this case it says sRGBIEC61966, etc? Is that the Dimage's profile?

You implied one should calibrate the reproduction workflow from
orginal scene to monitor, to printer, while in professional graphic
arts the reverse is what is done.
Like heck I did. I did not imply how to calibrate anything. Indeed, I said NOTHING about calibration. Calibration is one critical part of the mechanism for achieving the goals of color management. Calibration itself is not the goal. The GOAL is "what you see is what you get" - which is what I described.

I specifically avoided mentioning either ICC profiles or calibration in deference to the FAR BETTER explanations provided in the references I cited. I simply said - "here is WHY color management is (from 50,000 feet), and here is where you can learn more."

As a reminder - here is the original quote. Any idiot can see that I am talking about capturing, manipulating, and rendering an image - not calibration workflow. You will also note that it is phrased as a goal - the desired result of proper color management. It says nothing about HOW this is achieved.

"Ultimately, it is all about having what you saw when you shot the picture show up right on your monitor, and then having what you see on your monitor (retouched or otherwise) show up in a print."
