D70 High Shutter Speed Problem (or not) Samples

He did those shots BECAUSE of the color shift problem the D70 shows at iso 200 from 1/4000 and above...

But I can say for me this is not an issue at all... I was that dumb and tested it today indoors in a shop... lmao... iso200 1/8000sec... nothing but a plain black picture... lol But the 10D was also black even at iso100 1/4000sec...

It would be more than rare that one needs those speeds with Iso200... me: never!

For the Grid: If you dont see it at 100% then its fine I think... If you open the NEF eithe in PS or capture 4.1 it is 100% now if you dont resize the image it stays of course at 100%... take the crop tool make a selection of the bottom left corner, right click and say "crop", then save this file as a jpg with high quality... thats all...

photogs,
I am really worried after seeing your pic!!! Your pic exposure
looks fine to me, and those pictures are prob some of the pictures
that I would take. Shooting into the sky or portraits using F1.8
under bright lighting. And the grid!!! I am worried... cuz so far I
haven't seen any explaination yet and can only sit and wait.

Even for your wind chime pic, I sort of see the color shift on the
top. I dont know which vertical way you film this, but I see it.

I travel a lot, esp to beaches locations. I dont want to end up
with shots with color shifts and go home jumping ups and downs! I
haven't bought it yet, but I have been anticipating this highly
rated cam... I am gonna hold off for sure!!!

Some blooming, a light flare, the color shift, moire... nothing special... but the one with the swan??? wtf is this? Could be the worst blooming I've ever seen, the sensor just exploded or just a failure in electronic that can happen 1 in a billion...?

I think I'd still be happy with my D70 because I don't shoot in
these extreme conditions. But Nikon has to explain what's going
on.....

no never! I don't have a 50mm 1.4 lens sorry... and I don't like snow :-)

btw. what are all those millions of people doing that don't have any 1/8000sec? not even the 10D has 1/8000 so what?

But keep bladdering about the problem... I'll shoot

But, this was a properly exposed shot and very well could have been a "real world" photo.

Thanks McErono...heres a 100% crop from lower left hand corner.

Maybe I speak about different things... I don't interest shooting anybody or not at 1/8000. I wish my hardware will work corectly in it's specification range :) That's all.

there are still lines! very thin ones crossed! what is this? but you can certainly get rid of those with neat image...

I didn't see it until I hit the 200% view...and looked at where you highlighted it.

It almost looks like the sensor pixel grid. I still think it has something to do with aliasing of the pixel grid with something. Maybe the fact that PS6 is using only 8 bits? Maybe with no sharpening it is apparent, if I perform sharpening on the NEF will this eliminate it?

I dunno...seriously scratching my head on this one. Oh Gawd!! I am becoming one of those dreaded "measurebators"...what will my wife think?

She'll say..."but your pictures are lovely..." and she will be mostly correct...I guess.

The one that took the pic of the sun (it doesn't get any dumber... I hope the guy has still his right eye in his head lmao) shot the pic of the swan afterwards... no wonder it looks like this... ;-)

You know, I was laughing so hard when I read your comment "the
sensor just exploded" buwahhhhh ha ha ha. The swan picture is
really weird. If it is true, something is really wrong with the
seonsor.

If you dont see this again just forget about it... we all just look to deep and near at our screens...

btw sharpening would increase that thing more I guess...

Your right...I am really enjoying the D70 and will likely continue to do so. It still beats the hell out of my first digital...the Sony F707.

These issues are fringe cases...for the most part the D70 kicks serious bum.

Once in a while, someone will do something in here to make me laugh hard enough to pee on myself...

Crying on the floor here... my daughter and wife are asking me what the heck is wrong!

That was good...

im not trying to be a troll here im buying a d70 tommorow and going to put ithrough a days worth of work .

but i have to attest to something

my old fuji 6900 zoom used to shoot the sun all the time ...

and i never had a problem like that swan pic.

maybe i was lucky but i do not belive that the fuji ccd is more robust or better than the one in the nikkon

and if it turns out so then im going to be a unhappy camper :(

I think my old Nikon F401 does like 1/2000. As for 1/8000th...is this to like..compensate for not buying a $30 tripod or something? ;-) I have my order in... and waiting.... oh hum.
