D200

Hi, Brian!
I am the proud owner of a D 70 and have been reading the threads
regarding the D 200.
I keep on reading that the D 200 is an " Awesome" camera...
Absolutely true; it is an awesome camera. Of course, so is the d70... maybe even more so, because it was a revolutionary product when it was introduced, while the d200 "only" offers evolutionary improvements. But image quality aside, a brighter viewfinder, higher resolution LCD, better high iso performance, improved autofocus, and higher frame rates are things many of us have dreamed about.
I'm not knocking the D 200 but I need a lot of convincing before I
even consider a switch to the D 200.
Considering you've only owned your d70 for 8 months, it would be silly to consider upgrading just yet. Enjoy your camera, treat it to some good glass, and when the shutter wears out, revisit the d200. Surely someone will have posted a few good pictures by then ;-).

From what I got from adds, the new D200 is better then the D70 and even a noch up from the old D100. The D70 is on the low end, and the D200 is a prosumer cam.

And the weather sealing would prove that out, it is between the low end d70s and high end DX2 models. Pro's will use it, as well as people need top end models on the cheap. 6 to 10 MP is a big jump in the digital world, everyone is compairing the new D200 to canons new 5D.

That with in it's self tells you it's much better then the D70s, as the 5D is a full frame senor. And while the D200 does not got a full frame, it's pretty close. And does have some better specs better then the 5D, the price is one of them.

So many people, will be looking at both the new D200 and 5D. They both are first real cams, with specs people having been waiting for a long time for. And set a new standard most of us have been waiting for, so they are some thing new in manys eyes. These 2 cams have sealed the deal, the standard has been set for most of us and that is a big deal.
