You seem to be very sensitive to minor changes to the interface. There’s three users of our 2x Win11 and 2x Win10 systems, and nobody has any issues when swapping between them.
Three users have no issues! Well, I suppose that's end of story. I guess the hundreds of Youtube vids, other websites, and 3rd party utilities showing how to customize the Windows UI are shouting in an empty room.
We’ve been using Windows since 1990 (every version except ME) and have rarely required anything beyond that offered by the standard UI. A few Shortcuts and Taskbar entries do the trick.
One of us is an IT professional with 50+ years of experience, so there’s no need for any YouTube nonsense or dodgy Third Party customisations.
Same results here except for the ME edition ha ha. That was terrible.
This is the verdict on
Windows ME
I was personally using Windows 2000 at the time, but saw many customers with ME troubles.
I did have fun in the XP days using windows blinds, but now it's just windows exclusive. I have used various versions of Linux, and MacOS as well. WIndows has been more stable than both.
Yes, I did a lot of work in the Win98 and WinXP era. I found Win98 rather hardware sensitive, and it was my practice to test a new build by quickly loading Win98 and looking for trouble. Any computer that ran Win98 reliably was invariably stable with WinXP. I serviced many sites that ran WinXP 24/7.
Little to say about Linux and MacOS, but I am a regular user of the iPad.
