So I've never had this happen, in however many years I've been posting on DPR (10+), but it's now happening consistently enough that I think it's a very real and repeatable bug... Apologies if it's been mentioned elsewhere.
I'm on Chrome for Android, Pixel 9 Pro, using the standard Threaded view for the forums... Normally I'll click on a thread and I'll land on the first comment, and that's the only one marked read, which makes perfect logical sense. Years ago I tended to use Flat mode so I know how that works too...
Right now when opening a new thread in Threaded view, it's acting as if you're in Flat mode and marking a bunch of comments as read. For instance I just opened the "DPReview site running really slow" thread and the top 7 comments (thru Matthew's) were already marked read, along with an extra 3 towards the bottom, eg the oldest or page 1 comments...
It's marking comments as if one is in Flat view, when I'm on Threaded, kinda annoying...
