What a fantastic array of entries! Will have great difficulty choosing TT. Will have to allow lots of time to make my choices.

Is commenting a bit light this time. Or is it just my pics not getting many comments.

Hmmmm, is this a good sign or a bad one.

Ramon

Still some time to vote and get a comment or two in. The average number of comments by those who've made 'em is about 13. Don't have to comment on 'em all but the average isn't so daunting. You can bet those who receive your comment, even if not dripping with praise, will appreciate it.

G'luck, and enjoy!

that the way people can learn how to improve. My 10 yr old son has entered this time his first challenge and he has received a comment today that points out some compositional improvements that he understands and now realises he could have used to make his entry better.

He is pleased that some one (wont say who) took the time to make the comments and look at his entry.

So go on if you have the time comment on others entries it really is appreciated.

Both to your son and the commenter!

This is what it's all about, folks. Not winning, but learning and growing. Being challenged and meeting that challenge.

Dave, good for you for supporting your son in something like this!

Wow, it never occurred to me that anyone so young would be in the challenge. That sheds a whole different light on it.

I haven't been on these forums for a long while; I've been trying to vote in the challenges when I can.

I was torn in my voting this time. I finally decided to vote for what I liked, but definitely giving the "true macros" (in my opinion) an edge.

I also didn't realise we had contributors of such a young age. I just hope that now I have finally left comments on every picture that I treated him kindly. Not that we should make any special consideration for younger members but with so many pictures to comment on some of my remarks may have been less lengthy than I would have liked.

As for typing "this is not a macro" I think there were only a couple that I thought were blatently going against the theme and I did try to explain why.

We should all remember that many people have lenses that are marked as "macro" yet don't really have proper macro capabilities.

Funny you should say that ... after a long discussion yesterday regarding the "true" nature of a macro photo, I went through both categories today and rearranged the shots with a much stronger bias to the closer shots.

What a difference that made! And I feel much better now when I look at both of my TT lists ... I really respect every one of those shots as a solid attempt to meet the spirit of the challenge, and of course as a darned good photo.
