Do you walk into an art exhibit or walk up to an artist at his easel and say "let me see a brush, I'll fix it for you"?
That is ludicrous.

Thank you to everyone who participated, posted commentaries, and "likes".

My intention was to have people look with a different eye to day to day buildings, with abstract elements like lines, curves, shadows and color.

Here are my results:

HM:dartymix1:Florida’s old capitol building. I like the abstraction created by the distortion and the contrast of the shades with the sky.

HM: Ryan Schwartz: US Bank Stadium. This is the kind of building where I would start looking for weird lines, shades and reflections. By zooming in on the sides of the building you can create something abstract out of it.

HM: Christianne: detail of a fireplace. This is in the direction I hoped for. Leave off the left side and you would get a nice gray abstract view.

2nd place: DeanDoe. Well done, the shade of the pole and vertical lines lets you look twice. Same here, I think that leaving off the left part will make it stronger

1st place: Ryan Swartz: Bridge to nowhere. I like the complementary colors and abstraction of the bridge while retaining some recognition on second site. Spot on for this challenge.

Congratulations Ryan, and the honor of hosting the next challenge goes to you!

Thanks Vidja for a fun challenge. (I think some of the pics and names got mixed up but will let folks sort that out. I’m sure Ryan will be surprised that he’s now a Vikings fan ;)

Thanks for the mention and congrats to all.

Ha! Grew up a Vikings fan living in the Twin Cities, but slowly find myself rooting for the Packers living on the WI side now. Something about the culture with the fan base, along with playing home games outdoors that radiates with me. Small market, a lot like Buffalo, makes it more fun to root for these teams.

My Vikings fan hood was pretty much done after Brett Favre’s and Jared Allen’s tenures ended in Minnesota. Those guys were so much fun to watch with their skill and energy. The last of the true greats to play for the Vikings. The 1998 and 2009 NFC Championship losses were also soul crushing and I’m not sure I really got over them. The franchise is just cursed.

Hi Ryan. Are you hosting the next challenge? While that may be my bridge photo, Somehow I have hosted 3 so far this year and was hoping to avoid a 4th( almost every other one). If not, let me know and I will come up with something.
Thanks Marty

Cursed is a good word. I used to play summer golf / winter poker with some work colleagues and buddies. Group was evenly split Vikings / Packer fans. One week there'd be talk of running to the Super Bowl and the next it was all gloom. As predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.... I'm old enough to remember the last years of the Lombardi years. Growing up near Green Bay, the 4 kids in our family would hope our parents went to late Sunday morning Mass during football season. If the Packers were at home, that 11:00 Mass was no more than 30 minutes long!

I'm going to respectfully decline because I never submitted any photos in this challenge. I had quote responded to Nick's photos and somehow I ended up getting credit for Nick's submissions in the challenge results. The host has acknowledged this mix up. I will not accept any challenge honors since it was not my work.

Hey, it was worth a try… I just got back from a photo safari in Kenya so I will probably pick something animal related so I can bombard everyone with my safari pics.

It's all good, Marty.

Ever since I had a bad experience hosting a challenge over in the Sony forum earlier this year, I haven't been too motivated to participate in any challenges, let alone host one.

Hi all,

i made a mistake. Nicolas D should get the credits for the HM, see the corrected caption below.

sorry Nicolas
