Ii is time to pick a winner. As usual, I enjoyed all the images. Thank you all for participating! Great job one and all! In looking through these I see that I overdid my own examples--Sorry about that folks!. I will try not to be so post crazy if I ever run the challenge again. I really had a hard time with this one. I kept changing my top pick and at one point had one of nearly everyone's photo in the running. Now on to the wonderful world of macro images
Honorable Mentions
Nicholas D's Monarch Just Stopping By. While it is not a typical macro, the head and body of the monarch were very sharp even though caught in mid flight above the purple cone flower (echinacea). It is a very pretty shot and who doesn't love monarchs?
Damnerd's the arrival is an interesting set up shot and I liked the way the marble and whatever the other thing is combine to make a UFO..
I liked both of Tord Erickson's Red Dwarf Honey Bees. I actually liked the second one better (the second bee shot itself was very detailed) but I was not in love with the background on the second one.
Missedshot's arachnophobia is a good shot of what I think is an orb weaver. Ken5678 had a similar spider, and I just liked this one better because the spider was harrier.
Third place goes to Full Frame's Itsy Bitty Spider which was cute as a bug (as they say in the south). His Pedilaps were way cool and his eyes were great!
Second Place Goes to Ken5678's Romanesco. I had to look this up as I don't think I had seen one before, but it is a cool shot. Each of the baby Romanescos are sharp and together create a neat design.
first place goes to JoMikes' Crab Spider. The whole spider is sharp and looks great against the daisy. So, JoMike, it is your turn to run the challenge.
