**Challenge 22 Information**

Yes, I understand what you're saying. There are alot of photo
surprises out there waiting to be found.
Yes, that's what I meant, but it was more than a photo surprise. Because of this photograpy assignment, I got to appreciate the garden and fountain in front of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors building. Otherwise I would have just walked right past it and not appreciated it.

It was also a valuable insight into the advantages of digital photography over film photography.

When I was using film, I never took ten pictures of a fountain, because it seemed like a "waste" of film. But only by taking many pictures of the same thing can one really get the perfect picture.

The second advantage is what people call the "digital darkroom". The only significant thing I did to the photo was crop it (not a whole lot, just a little). But that's a pretty big deal. Without a digital darkroom, you can't crop a photo, unless you have access to a traditional darkroom (and I don't).

Also, cropping is why a 5MP camera like the F707 is a big advantage over a 3MP camera, if you want to print out 8 x 10s. I think that 3MP is the minimum you need to get a sharp 8 x 10 print. So 5MP gives you the ability to crop out some of the photo and still have enough pixels for a sharp 8 x 10 print.

So this is why I think a contest like this is useful for someone trying to increase their photography skills.

Thanks for sharing these thoughts...I'm glad you participated...and "grew" :)
I learn every time I "take on" one of these challenge assignments.

I think they're great opportunities for develpoing skills and sharing with other fellow enthusiasts.
