I'm sure there is a setting like "minimum shutter speed" that I cannot find in the menu, but on my OM-1 right out of the box with default settings, I am unable to get a slower shutter speed than 1/640 in any of the shooting modes. I can get as fast as 1/32000 but no slower than 1/640. Where do I change this so that I can achieve the full range of shutter speeds, either automatically or manually, based on my shooting mode?

Weird. ISO set super high?

Can you post an image of either the back display with settings overlay, or the SCP.

Hopefully just an odd setting.

Cheers,

Rick

Rick, I just reset the shooting settings and that fixed it. Perhaps I did monkey around with something and caused that. But, definitely didn't select a "minimum shutter speed" or anything like that. So, kind of weird to have that issue. I will keep an eye on it as I start adjusting settings to see if it recurs.

Good to know. Fond of ctrl+alt+del when I can't figure something weird like that out--can save a lot of grief!

Enjoy the camera.

Rick

See p.127 of the you-know-what. 1/640s is mentioned there as a lower shutter speed limit in SH2 (high speed sequential) and ProCap SH2 modes, if Max Fps is set to 50 under Sequential Shooting Settings.

Pro capture settings. If you are capturing over a certain number of frames per second it sets the limit to 1/640

Haha! Thanks. In my defense, I did an internet search. But, perhaps downloading the pdf of the you-know-what and searching for "1/640" would have answered my question. Curious the rationale for the limit to 1/640... presumably there is a technical reason?

Sensor read + exposure + sensor clear probably can't maintain 50+ FPS if longer than 1/640.
