Can the D700 EXIF Shutter Count Be Wrong?

I just checked my D700 as I'm waiting for my D800 to arrive and I'm worried it's going to break at any single second.

Shutter count now at 257 284.

Anyone else have a D700 that has made it over 350 000?

If the shutter fails just replace it, unless you plan to throw away the camera
