Camera problem update

I just sold two Olympus cameras on Ebay- C3000 and C2100 (both with some accessories) and got very good price and no problems at well with payments. The best (safest) payment type is to request cashiers check or postal money order. Once you receive the $, you ship the camera. I'm starting to like Ebay.
Hi Liz

Just been reading through this post and at least it is good news
that Fuji are giving you a new camera, but not so good that you
have lost confidence in Fuji, but after all that has happened I can
understand that. I myself am very happy with the 6900.

If you do decide to get something else, or a 602 if you change your
mind, ans you cannot get a decent trade in price through Jessops or
another retail, then I would recommend you consider Ebay.
Oohh, scary! I've never used ebay - I'm always a little concerned
about the financial arrangements going pearshaped - maybe I'm not
trusting enough.
If I didn't go for a 602 (which is probable), and decide on the
707, I'd be selling the lot - teleconverter and adapter, extra
battery, charger, 55mm filters, all the SM so I might have a chance
of a decent price as the package would get someone the full kit to
get started. The extras alone are probably worth £150 or so. I
suppose it might do OK if I leave it unused and still with a year's
warranty. I'll have to think about that one!
The reason I say this is that I sold my 6900 with extrea battery
and card for £475, but could of got more for it, as a friend of
mine then put his 6900 on ebay with extra battery and card and got
£520 for it and it was eight months old, so you will get a good
price for a new one, they are going for silly money at the moment.
I'm surprised the 6900 is still going for such good prices,
considering the 602 has been out a couple of months.
Just a thought if you cannot get a good trade in price and you
decide to get something else.
Thanks for the idea, even if it's a scary one for me! :-))

Ebay has had some reported fraudulent transactions taking place.
i recall information regarding this site a few months ago.

Why's it scary, it as safe as houses, after all you have the goods
until the cash is in your bank.....you don't release the goods
until all funds have cleared and you know the money is safe. You
can also check up on prospective buyers before hand.

I'm always amazed at the prices people pay on ebay. My friend who

would have thrown out and everything sold....

If you want any further advice on using ebay, just let know and
I'll be happy to give you any help you need, I could even sell it
on your behalf as I have already sold a 6900 successfully and have
the feedback to prove it.

have a nice day and don't loose your head, it will show your lack of maturity and your age.

Eric

You are right, there were some issues with PayPal, but these have now been resolved by ebay taking over PayPal. I do not however use PayPal as it is too expensive to get your money from them - 3% and the transaction has to be in US$.

I only accept payments in cash or personal cheque and only release the goods when the funds are safely in my bank account. The guy who bought my 6900 paid cash directly into my bank account.

Duncan, you're a poppet, that's very sweet of you :-)) I might very well do the ebay thing. Even if I go for the 707, I think it is becoming a classic so, if I decide to upgrade to its replacement later in the year, I might not lose too much.
OK, this is looking like a more coherent plan now!

Only thing now is......if I go for the 707 will you lot still talk to me if I visit here?? This is becoming like a second family :-))

Thanks everybody for advice and support

Hi chaps and chapesses

Sorry to dredge this old thread up again but some more news.

Fuji sent a camera to my retailer last week. They checked it for me and ...guess what....found it was my original camera still with the damaged metal lens plate.

Well, all hell let loose and the retailer told them in no uncertain terms that a new camera had been promised, and asked the chap at Fuji how he would like it if it was his camera returned for the fourth time. After some uncomfortable squirming by the Fuji rep, he admitted he wouldn't like it much...and a new camera plus spare SM card is now in the post, hopefully to arrive tomorrow. I told the retailer to tell the Fuji rep. that Fuji had done themselves no PR favours in they handling of this and that they had now lost a prospective future Fuji customer...who will probably be moving to the Sony 717 as a replacement. The retailer has promised that if I have any more problems, they will sort them out even if out of warranty and say I can get a "good deal" from them by way of an apology when I move to the 717.

Anyway, since some of you have patiently sat through my rantings, the least I could do was let you know there is hopefully a semi-happy ending......I hope! :-))

Next thing you know, there will be a post from an excited new 6900 owner entitled "First 6900z macro shots" and asking about filters, adapter tubes, where to buy them from and what settings to use for the best photos... Now that would be spooky :-))

Sorry the way things went.

You should send this to Fuji's VP in your country then send copies to the Company President and a copy to Fuji Japan's CEO (with a nice note to the CEO's Executive Secretary any competant Cheif Officier trusts thier Secretary).

BTW if you do leave Fjui the 717 is probably the best other option without going DSLR. The 707 was to me a good toy but not a good camera since it was so limited with flash and other problems like parallax. Sorry just my opinion.

I just read a review to day and they stated it is minor upgrade lens and CCD almost identical but some glitches worked out but the rest of the camera is almost a new model it is so improved.

Good Luck and best wishes whatever your decision.

IF YOU LEAVE MAKE SURE FUJI's TOP DOGS KNOWS WHY!!!!

Do you think so? I'll have to trawl around for some email addresses. Maybe they'll give me a complementary S2 ..hmm, maybe not, it's a Fuji camera! :-) and knowing my luck......

That's exactly the reason I didn't get the 707 - I couldn't understand Sony not giving hotshoe ability. The reviews, so far, of the 717 are rather good. I'll probably wait for any cutting-edge glitches to be sorted out before I buy. Mind you, as it is only a "minor" upgrade, all the original problems such as DLS and BFS should be sorted in the 717.

Thanks Ray. I won't be going away just yet aand if/when I do move brands I'll be sure to come back and visit if that's allowed. I promise I'll behave myself too! :-)

You have it wrong as a person who has endeared herself on this forum you have the eyes and ears of hundreds and more likely thousands. Remember that! Especially when yo write or speak with the "top Dogs".

Remind them:
1. You purchased in good faith.

2. You are not a Pro but you are also NOT a novice but an advanced amateur and you know what should be.

3. Explain the problems in a short manor and the steps you've taken and the little respect Fuji has given you and your problem. Offer detrails if they need them [that way you don't bore or overwhelm them and if they need more info they HAVE to call or write you]

4. Then politely inform them that the average person informs 10 ANY others when they are dissatified with the way a company treats them; but You are currently and will continue to inform thousands of people who are interested in the results of your problem to see if Fuji will treat them with honor and respect if they have a problem or if they should go else where for their next camera purchase. [you can make sure that this is true by refering to this thread in the other forum if Fuji fails to satisfy].

As you may have noticed [from this post] I am not brand loyal but usually continue unless mistreated or something far superior for my needs comes along. I am however, very loyal to friends.

Again I wish yo the best whatever direction you go.

Thanks for that - it's the kick up the backside I need to write to them. All I've got to do now is find some suitable email addresses to use. I don't hate Fuji - in fact I love my 6900 and I expect these things to happen. Such is life, but it would be nice if large multinational companies realised how their reputations can suffer because of poor customer handling. Nothing beats a company with excellent customer care. A company with the best product in the world will eventually lose out if their customer care doesn't match their product.

I have an email address at home of a Japanese Fuji guy who is the UK tech support liaison man for Fuji Tokyo. He is really helpful, can speak (read) English and can get direct answers from Japan. He also shows a real interest in what people think of Fuji. If you like I will send you his email address tonight when I get home.
