Camera help

I had a D7000. When the D7100 came out, I considered an upgrade, but here was a problem with the senor, so I waited, Then the D7200 was announced, and it was everything I wanted - more pixels, dual card slots, and no AA filter. But I don't rush into things, so I waited. Then the D7500 was announced, and I didn't care for (or need) the "improvements". So I bought a D7200 - new, for about $650.
The "problem" with the D7100 was way overstated. It was banding in dark areas. I had one and remember maybe two shots out of many thousands that showed a bit of banding. Otherwise, it was pretty much the same camera as the D7200.

I later got a D7500. Way better Autofocus, same image quality as D7200, but a smaller and easier to handle body. I'd go with that one over the D7200 any day.

Well, everyone has their own priorities. I was interested in astrophotography, so the banding was a show-stopper for me. But the D7500 also went back to a single card slot instead of two, had all those video modes I ha no interest in,, had a lower resolution sensor and worse battery life.

I'll accept the claim that it was a popular update for many people, but it wasn't for me.
