The D30 was missing the remote control terminal cap. Does anyone know where I can pick one of those up?

Additionally, is there a menu or setup option that will tell me how many exposures have been taken with the camera?

Thanks,

Jaz

Can't help you with the cap. You may want to email Canon about it cause I don't think any stores sell it. Personally I just took mine off since it's a hassle to screw/unscrew it when using the shutter release remote, plus it's so small that you can easily lose it. That's why I just stored mine in my bag.

To check how many exposures taken, you can use the review pictures button and it will tell you how many pictures you have taken (e.g. xx/xx).

Hope this helps.

I'm not talking about the "film" counter...I'm talking about a total amount of exposures (from day one) count...Sort of a digital odometer kind of thing...I thought I remembered someone saying the D30 kept track of that but I guess even if it did, you'd lose it when the backup battery went dead...

There is a counter inside the camera but only Canon sees it for some reason. If the former owner reset the numbering you will never know the real number.

Canon sells them if you call their 800 number. The only number I can find on their site right now (that's labeled customer support) is: 800-652-2666. If nothing else they should be able to point you in the right direction. They'll sell you the caps for cheap but the shipping will actually cost money (but is a flat fee for however much you get), so buy two of each.

I have never seen listed a reliable way of getting the exposure count. There might be some undocumented way to do this but nobody at canon's talking. The image file number can be set to anything you want with a short (but somewhat arcane) procedure.

You know that clear gummy silicon stuff that holds some labels on plastic jugs or cardboard boxes? Keep a lookout for some, gather up an appropriate amount, wad it up into a ball, and moosh 'er on it there. Just as effective as the Canon version, and almost as attractive...
