Better than E 10?

Simply your arrogance. Maybe you don't intend to come across as a know it all, but you tend too.. This can be very off putting to someone who is a little "sensitive". And so what if she wants to get another camera, whats it to you, are you going to start a new religion based on the E10? This is what I'm getting at with the statement get a life... You take this stuff far too seriously, here is a simple example. Why are there so many different types of hammers in Sears? Aren't they all capable of driving in a nail?

Jennie will probably post thats she's going to leave another two or three times, I gave her my opinion I don't need to follow the rest of her posts, it's the same subject, some issue, move on...

Bye.

No hard feelings ;)
Ralf

Let me tell ya. Your web site is truly awesome, and your photos are
some of the best I've seen on this forum. Why the hell have you
been hiding out in the background? .......;> )

Sorry that I may have written in such a way as to come off as an arrogant person to you in the original post. I guess if you feel Jennie is "a little sensitive", then I can see how you would think I tend to be an "arrogant" person/poster...

Your comment to me re: "a new religion", naw, I don't think that remark was needed do you, Manny? Here is a person (Jennie), on the Oly forum, asking questions and making statements about the poor quality of an Oly piece of gear. I wanted her to see what the Oly was capable of in this mans hands. Does this really sound as though I am trying to start a "new religion based on the E10?" It sounds as though you have appointed yourself as her protector here and that is fine, because she certainly needs one, (not arrogance on my part, but simple fact) but perhaps you would do well to temper your responses to others, lest you somehow become labelled, as you have labelled me? Comments such as "get a life" and "are you going to start a new religion based on the E 10" are just a bit arrogant (to use your term), don't you think? I called her "inexperienced" and also said she was dissatisfied with her E 10" in my earlier post. Are those untrue, unkind or "arrogant" characterizations of Jennie? No, she admits to that and more. So what is the problem?

Yes, you are right, lets move on and get back to photography. And no hard feelings. I will even try to be a little more introspective in regard to my posts to try to avoid coming off as arrogant. Thanks for pointing this out to me. Regards, Jim N'AZ

Ralf Strathmann,

Been gone on low bandwidth the past couple of days when I first saw your post and your site. Great results which is certainly attributable to your eye, camera and digital darkroom. Thanks for sharing as it seems it is very timely.

Hi, I’ve never responded to an article in forum, even after
spending many informative hours reading everybody’s opinions.

I shoot album / CD covers for a living, mostly on location, always
under some sort of pressure.

I have either owned or rented every professional camera available.
I’ve worked in a lab years ago and still make my own prints.

About a year ago I bought an Olympus E10 on impulse for $ 1600.00.
(An amount I normally budget on film for one job)

I tried it on a magazine shoot. (In raw mode) The initial results
where a little disappointing, but once I started discovering and
using all the available post production tools (genuine fractals,
quantum mechanics, many photoshop plug-inn’s)
I started to love the camera.

Since then I’m almost ashamed to admit I’ve shot many jobs with the
E 10, backed up by film, shot on Hasselblad and Mamiya 7. Most of
the time I haven’t processed the film, because the client was more
than happy with the shots from the E 10. We’re talking about
poster campaigns, billboards and Magazine covers.

Granted, the file coming out of the E10 doesn’t look anything like
the pics I send my clients. I treat these shots like I’m in the

darkroom. Since I know what I’m looking for in a “real” photograph
the raw files from the E10 plus all the digital tools available
make it possible to create them.

Since I totally believe that digital image acquire will be the
future of our business I’ve been seriously looking to upgrade my
equipment.

I spend weeks in December 2001 testing various options. I hated all
backs that go on medium format cameras, because the tether
requirements and the fact that they nearly double the focal length
of the lenses. ( cables and to many batteries on location just
don’t work)

All the Nikon and Canon’s etc. remind me of Porsche Kit-cars build
on a VW chassis.
I don’t believe in the philosophy to adapt a small CCD to a 35mm
standard lens and loose the best qualities of both components.

I returned a E 20 I bought after finding that all the improvements
over the E10 were software based.

Hopefully there will be a full size CCD 35 mm SLR in the near future.

Since then I’m going to take some amazing shoots on my E 10.

I had the same question since he says he got an E10 a year ago and has likely been doing this job for longer. But in a sense it does not matter because you cannot tell which is which anyway - from these small pics.

These are CD covers but surely the same pics are used for posters which are larger. I note he was not happy with the E10 RAW and only after using Genuine Fractals did he fall in love with it. Likely he means the larger ones. Maybe Oly should include a copy of GF.--Blokey http://www.pbase.com/blokey/galleries

Hey Jim,

My comment about get a life simply means, let it go man, move on. Your knowledge and energy can be used in far more productive ways. AS to the religion statement it was a jest, someone on this forum actually has a link to a webpage with and E10 church, where you can pray to it. Its pretty funny, ccan't remember the link though. :(

I'm not too worried about how "I might be labeled". Couldn't care less about it actually. I'm here because there is a lot of great info to be had about what I think is a great product, period.

I think you were once one of the informative posters, but lately, eh, what can I say.

As to my being arrogant, I have nothing to prove. I make no claims to being an E10 master or more knowledgable then anybody else on this forum. I'm here to learn, and if I know something share it. Nothing to prove no causes to champion.

Later man, I look forward to your informative side coming out again.

This is getting hysterical. Can we please get off the subject of "Jennie"? Here's someone very talented (Ralf) who posted his website link here, and now the thread has gone to Jennie again. What's up with this? If you want to talk about or support Jennie and her needs, can't you just email her off-list (or off line as she likes to say)? You're saying "move on", "get a life" and all sorts of things, yet here we are again, and she is not even posting this time. This is just a plea to everyone to please stop resurrecting this saga again. BTW, Ralf......your photos are truly an inspiration! Thanks for posting the link. K.

Sorry Ralf didn't mean detrack from your original post. You've taken some beatiful images, great lighting and color, plus some excellent bands. Do you have any full size images that can be viewed even if they have your copy protect all over them, would just love to see one in all its glory.

Thanks,
Manuel
