Better than a "BIG SCREEN"...

Yes, when I do this type of image. I store the completed image with all the layers. Of course this eats up lots of HD but I've got lots of space (250GB). This practice allows me to go back and fiddle later...
Doug
thats it....very well done.....was she on a separate layer?

Doug,

The best way I can think of is (BTW, I don't use Photoshop, rather PhotoImpact, but I think you should be able to do this one way or another)...

1. Copy her into a blank canvas, then make a second copy of her too so you have two copies in the blank canvas side by side.

2. Now apply the shaddow to one, but not the other.

3. At the point that you want the shaddow to end (the frame edge), edit the selection of, or crop the Shaddow pic (now you only have her feet to waist, as a half pic).

4. Now lay that over the top of the copy without the shaddow.

5. Merge or join group the two copies together and place the her into your compiled pic, in place of the current pic of her.

See if that works... if it does, I would enjoy seeing the results! :-)

Yours sincerely,

Doug,
The shadow looks good, but... if she is meant to be looking into
Nature, and not a photo, then the shadow should stop at the top
edge of the frame and not go onto the pic. eg. shadow only on
frame, not sunset pic.

What do you think? Unless she is meant to be sitting on the frame
of a photo, not the frame of 'Nature'?

Yours sincerely,
Michael Offe,

You could also use the rectangle marque to select the top half of one image with the shadow and delete the contents. This would allow the girl without the shadow to show through. Terrific image in any case!

Lloyd, that sounds like it would be the faster way to do it in Photoshop.

I use PhotoImpact, but only have Ver. 5, but I want to upgrade to Ver. 8 which has a lot of the newer features for working with objects etc... so once I get that and learn all the new stuff I should be a bit more up to date! :-)

Hi Doug,

Another thing I thought may make it look a better is if you reduced the size of the shadow... my eye tends to go to the heavy shaddow instead of the overall pic.

I also, really like the frame effect. How do you do the shading on the frame, ie light to dark. gradient???

Thanks

Mick:

The gradient is achieved by using the gradient tool instead of the paint bucket when one wants to color a frame...
Hope this helps

The great thing about this forum is that one can get a little imsperation to try something new from time to time. I know if happens for me on a regular basis.
I'm honored that you would think my image is good enough to give you that...
Thank you
Doug
Brilliant idea Doug,

I hope you don't mind but I will have to find a reason to do that
sometime :-)
