Best Point & Shoot cam with the largest(best) Sensor?

Any advice on this??

Finepix F200 EXR
The Canon s95 has a larger sensor, a better overall reputation at dpreview, has become the quitessential "dslr compliment" camera here on dpreview as it's the best you can get for it's size, all of it's direct competition that is as good is larger, it has a better lens for low light vs the fuji, shoots RAW, full manual controls...bla bla bla lol. It's drawback is that it doesn't zoom as much as you'd like.

But it has a reputation for being the absolute best camera for image quality that you can buy for it's size.

Your request is way over budget and can only be met with any of five opptions , beg , steal, borrow , pray , or sell your body !

well yeah.. i knw its bit funny to have my expectations for $200, it was just a hypothetical limit i set cos i dint have a god idea abt the prices, well now i c where they stand.
Is SMS-spellling going to be the standard here?
I hope not - it looks disgusting to me.

I abhor the trend of illiteracy. More so, the tolerance for it.

F200's sensor (8 x 6 mm) is bigger than the S95's (7.49 x 5.52 mm)

the s95 is a great camera, but it doesn't have a larger sensor than an F200

Go for half a decade-decade old discontinued model.Buy online.Ask "lost and found unclaimed- cams on auction"with police/railways/bus services etc.to widen the scope of your search.

When you are comparing the sensor size of the Canon S95, and the Fuji 200EXR, the Fuji has the SLIGHTLY larger sensor. BUT, it is so close, they are almost the same size at 1/1.7" 7.8x5.8mm vs 1/1.7" 7.6x5.7mm. There will be no significant difference in the quality of the photos obtained from sensor size alone on these 2 cams.

What I do not see mentioned is the Canon S95 has a much wider aperture f/2.0 vs f/3.3. At its widest zoom, the S95's lens captures much more light (1.4 f-stops), and that is significant.

Also, although both models take a certain amount of experience for best results, the Fuji in my opinion takes MORE experience to get really good quality shots. You can not go by JUST SENSOR SIZE alone, and assume all larger sensors will always take the best pics under any conditions.

You and the other posters are right - I was mistaken about the sensor size, it's technically very slightly bigger on the f200exr than on the s95.
