Toke - this is interesting! I looked at ImageMagick, and there is a
large variety of different downloads.
It can be a bit confusing. The 16 bit versions provide somewhat better quality at the expense of processing time. The static versions works without DLL-files.

The very conservative choice is 16 bit static, but most people should be fine with 8 bit dynamic IMHO.
Does JPEGCrops integrate scripting or would I have to run
ImageMagick on the command line after I had cropped?
It integrates scripting.

I just finished a small how-to, with your problem as starting point. Have a look at http://ekot.dk/programmer/JPEGCrops/scripts.html

Toke, your scripting how-to above is excellent and I'd really like to try it and see if it works with my favourite freeware resizing program EazyThumbnails.
But I've hit a snag. When I click on the preferences command this is what I see

I am using the latest version.

Any ideas what's happening here? I can change the size but can't get the settings button to appear any way I try. I'm using Windows classic style which usually allows things to appear when XP theme does'nt.

Yes. Your DPI setting is 120, instead of 96. You can change it under Display preferences ~ Settings ~ Advanced, should you want to.

I'm sorry to say that it won't be fixed anytime soon, as it requires a great deal of changes. There are several other ideas and bugs that have higher priority. But thanks for the notification.

Give that man a cigar!
Thanks, that solved it and I now have all the functions.

I must have changed that setting to 120 when I first got the computer and I'd totally forgotten about it.

I hope you do continue to develop the program. I've read your 'future' list and it is encouraging.

It's unique in the way it handles crops and it's clever and really very useful. I feel you could really do something with it if you wanted to.

Anyway, thanks for the work you've done so far and for providing it free. Much obliged
Ian
