I am enjoying getting to understand my new toys, the Zf and 24-120 zoom, so out in the garden trying different things.
Here is a bee, this is the NEF converted to jpeg in NX studio. I have yet to update both PureRaw and Photoshop Elements so that they recognise NEF files.
Anyway, the bee

And then cropped a bit to see the detail

And then pushed it a bit more

I had the focus subject detection set to birds and the clever focus system actually locked on to the bee's eye. The 24-120 is going to make a good close-up lens, this is going to be fun.
Regards,
David

approach slowly and don't cast any shadows... you probably know all this!
this European wasp was quite cooperative
f/8~11 1/400 sec flash 100mm f/2.8 ~2:1 and crop to ~DX size.

I like that. Vespula vulgaris, the males don't sting, the females on the other hand....

This was taken on my ivy a couple of autumns ago with my Sony bridge camera. I think it was a male. they have longer curvier antennae than females. However I opted not to put my identification to the test.

yes vulgaris (the germanica has 3 spots on the head). in any case, worker or drone, i keep some respectful distance! apparently difficult to identify...
nice image and composition. they like ivy, as many other small insects do. poor misunderstood beast, it eats pests and is a good pollinator too!
