Backpack for Camera and Notebook

personally I don't like backpacks for my photo gear. You always need to get the back off before you can grab something from it.. a shoulder bag is "always on" :)

I got a Crumpler December Quarter, compared it to the LowePro Stealth 650 .. the lowepro seems very flimsy, by far not as rugged as the crumpler. fits 2 bodies (w/o lens), 4 normal lenses or 2 huge teles.. I have 4 lenses with 1 body + lens attached in it. My Alubook 12" goes with it all the time (fits up to 16").. lots of small stuff areas as well.

maybe you should reconsider? :)

Just wanted to thank you for your advice to consider Tamrac backpacks. I ordered the "Tamrac 5259 Photo/Digital Computer Backpack" and used it during the last couple of days.

I am really satisfied with it. Has very clever pockets and compartments, e.g. for compact discs, CF-Cards etc. Up to now even more than I need, but who knows...

Although it looks a bit bulky, it lets me carry my equipment way more convenient than with my LowePro Magnum bag. And I even can attach my LowePro S&F bags to the backpack. But since this is sooo large I guess I will not use this option very often.

Ok - it has no raincover like LowePro AW bag. But I actually never used it (when its raining, I stay inside since I'm not such a good photog like Yves with his fabulous rainbow). And btw when I should really need a rain protection I could order it from Tamrac.

So once more thank you, johntd!

I have been searching for something similar. I want awheeled case that can hold all my camera gear and a large laptop so that I can get through large airports comfortably. Once I get to my destination, I prefer to transfer to a smaller bag for the day trips.

I was actually looking at one of the backpacks and then I came across a Pelican softbag, the PCS172. Has anyone tried one?

Why not spend the extra 50 bucks at JandR.com and get the Stealth
Backpack for $169? It has plenty of room, and the laptop holder is
removeable and has it's own shoulder strap.
Can this Lowepro Stealth backpack carry a 16" notebook? How about a tripod? I checked J&R and Lowepro.com, and can't locate releveant info. I am also considering this backpack.

It has straps on the bottom for carrying a tripod. I carry my Tiltall on it.
