great picture, not much depth of field, but really well framed for such a difficult shot. I too have p picture of a bug (not quite as close as yours.

Actually he was happier than he would have been if I had not just saved him from being a "kitty" snack, we have so many June bugs here right now my cats are getting fat, lol.

One of his mouth parts is missing. Probably lost it in the fracas.
Isn't it strange how we humans read emotions into such creatures? I mean, here's a thing that doesn't even have a brain, just a spinal cord so it can move it's legs and other parts and somehow it is unhappy. I wonder if they do have emotions on even a basic level. If that's so, the gillions of insects we kill in one swoop when using insecticides must inflict major emotional trauma on their survivors!
June Bugs have different markings depending on where you live apparently. Ours have totally different coloring.

Hi Rob thanks for the comment.
If you zoom in a bit you'll see that "his" other appendage is just tucked under the shadow line. I thought the same & almost didn't post it. I know some people trash Nikonview but the zoom is decent enough to catch these details (very happy I own a 990). Photoshop comfirmed the "arm" also.
I was going to do some curve changes in the shadow but decided to leave it untouched.
This is way too much fun!
