I always look at the pictures ppl post here and on
the fujimugs challenges. I think most of them are
really good!

How many of you here on the forum are pro photographer?
Or are the most part here very talented beginners?

I'm strictly an amateur but I agree with you, there are some very knowledgeable and terrific photographers who haunt this forum.

I would say I am an educated beginner. I have read a lot on photography, but the live application of it I am just getting into.

Or, you can call me a geek. I don't mind...

I consulted this forum before buying my fuji S602Z. At that time, I knew nothing about photography, had never handled a digital cam or even an SLR. But within days, I was talking like a pro about f-stops and depth of focus and all the jargon, with my less knowledgable friends. Since then, my knowledge and handling of my camera has improved greatly.

I'm sure there are a lot of pros on this forum, which makes it very exciting and informative. If you are a newbie, have no worries, u'll be on your way to being a pro if you stick around here!

As much as I enjoy my little Fuji, I'd guess that not many pros are S602 users -- and not many S602 users are pros. If I learn that I'm wrong, I'll like my camera even better.

I have been taking photos with digital for several years now. I have had my 602z for a few months now and feel proud that my daughters and a few friends have thought that I had downloaded a couple of my photos! One daughter said that one of my photos looked like it came from the cover of the Missouri Conservationist magazine! :)

I'm an amateur in that I'm not a qualified photographer, although photography was one of the subjects I had to pass on my technical illustration course years ago. I've used photography as a professional tool all my adult life, if only as a method of recording data for use elsewhere.

But since turning digital, I've used it far more on a daily basis and as a web designer and am doing increasingly more. I get paid to take photos directly and indirectly as part of larger projects, so I suppose that makes me a pro in that sense of the word.

I'm with BMW-K. I would say that I'm an educated beginner. I am beginning to understand most of the technical jargon...not to the extent that Doug Kerr and others do, but I can follow most of the technical threads, and even add some insight at times.

I am getting better at judging what I think is a good image and what is a bad image, mostly through the fujimugs challenge. The biggest problem is that although I have an idea of what a good image looks like in my head, it doesn't always come out through the camera...that's just the nature of the beast though.

Don't really have any intent on becoming a professional, but do use cameras for dental records, so I guess you could say I do some photography "professionally" ;-)

Im completely new to photography. AS you can tell with my posts. Still learning. Ive used mainly video( Sony betacam). Now I use both, Camcorder and a S602z. George.

I have been doing Photography as a hobby and an income suppliment for about 25 years. I call it my hobby business. I don't do it full time so I guess that classes me as Semi Pro.....

Jeff .... FinePix S602 ....

Well.....

I consider myself an amateur. A few steps up from a beginner. It's not my first camera, slr and a couple of digitals. Having bought the 602 only 3-4 months ago still learning this beast.

Mostly a happy snapper with aspirations for that one or more killer photo.

Also severely hampered, being colourblind and having an enormous dislike for postprocessing. More damn computer programs to learn.

Greets from a sweltering Holland. Even the windmills have gone limp.

Fotonut.

Rank beginner. Before November last year I didn't understand a thing about photopgraphy. Then I bought the S602z. I had only owned point and shoot 35 mm autos before and thought all this stuff about f-stops and apertures was the realm of national geographic photographers.

I have had a very steep learning curve indeed. Thanks to the expertise of the people in this forum and their willingness to share, I don't think I have ever come to these pages and not learnt something about photography or the use of the 602.

I am looking forward to so much more learning. I am developing an eye for light, patterns, lines, contrasts etc. You do look at the world differently when you constantly think in terms of photographing it.

I've always said that - I think photographers are much more observant than other people, every shape or pattern to me is an image. Whatever walk of life you're in, you hone particular skills - my husband was a store manager for many years and now works in industrial security and is a karate instructor, so he automatically assesses the threat in every situation and is very spatially aware. He can spot a shoplifter at 20 yards and we rarely go shopping without him having a quiet word to shop staff somewhere.

Without reading all of your post-replies, I think you'll find that

many, if not most here, are learned amateurs, some with an amazing wealth of knowledge and skill.
