Anyone here using the CyberSync??

They work great. I've got one transmitter and two ac receivers. Waiting for the Commander and Advanced Receiver to be released to buy more. I'll also buy a battery powered receiver to use with the SB800. They will also take back their old triggers for full credit.

The only trivial item for me is that the manual trigger button on the transmitter is a little too easy to press so it goes off when in my pocket.

i read about that button.. that's why i decided to just wait till the newer model comes out. I am in no rush to use it, so doesnt bother to just wait a little longer...

I to am planning to use it with camera flash... thinking about picking up some used SB-28 since it has a PC sync.. and much cheaper to do that then buying a new 580EX II.

Whats the difference between the new model and the old model?
I think it is an AC powered receiver, as opposed to battery - that's
what I recall at least...
No, there is already an AC and a battery powered version of the CyberSync. The AC version was released first. The CyberSync+ will also have AC and battery versions, with the battery version released first according to Paul Buff. The AC version of the CyberSync+ is announced here:

Yes it will work with the 580 exii out of the box, but you will need an adapter for the EX, p/n 0065 from flash zebra dot com. Paul C Buff does not carry them.

I have some slightly modified ones! I bust one by dropping it and it hit the test button breaking the button. I replaced that switch for with one with a smaller shaft. The other two recievers I had I then opened up and trimmed the switch shafts. You can open them up, start a cut with a hacksaw and then trim with some wire cutters. The 3.5mm jack fits in the test button hole so I now use that to activate the buttons. Should make them more droppable and they don't turn on by themselves. I also trimmed the transmitter test button so it is just shorter than the channel select dial to reduce false activations. I put dents in all the channel select dials so you can tell the difference between channel 1 and channel 6!

Otherwise they have worked well and I just use velcro to hold them on. I also modified a shutter release cable to take a 3.5mm jack so I can trigger my camera as well.
