I ordered a WC-E80 (wide angle lens for Coolpix 5700) last week, before I read some threads stating it is rather big. Now I wonder if some folks ARE happy with it?

Mabey I can still cancel the order...

Send it back it stinks, way to BIG and not all that much in the way of being wide. There are other brands out there that are a lot smaller and give you more wide that work rather well. Check the threads here they have several different types of wides I think you will be much happier with.

I too have the WC-E80 and while I strongly disagree that it is "junk" I do not find it extremely useful. As noted it is heavy, it does weigh more than the camera. It is big, because of it's size it does obscure the internal SpeedLight. I is very sharp, the glass used in this optic is superb. Compared to other test shots I have seen with other wide-angle converters the Nikon glass is by far sharper without near the drop-off in the corners. It's not real wide, you will only get 28mm out of your 5700 at full wide. If I had to do it over, would I buy it again? Maybe, it has it's uses, I am just not finding many of them, but I'm sure with more practice, the WC-E80 will be a valuable part of my 5700 experience.

I am really considering the raynok .66x adaptor and the .24 fisheye. I know the quality will not be as good but the usefulness will be better and photoshop should be able to cure some of (if any) the softness with cheaper lenses

Thanx all for you replies,

I ordered this lens from the folder, then it didn't look that big:

( http://www.pbase.com/image/3252286 ). I bought the 5700 for the fact it wasn't bulky, I'll go travelling with it. Since none of you are that outspoken happy with it, the deal will be cancelled. (I hope they have not sended it yet ;)
